    "Angel of Australia"

With fanfares, marches, waltzes as well as music from theatre, operetta and a piece by Tchaikovsky that is renowned for going off with a bang.  Mirusia will perform songs that have made her famous around the world and Gregory Moore will sing those songs you love the most.

Over the last thirty years the Pops has provided the people of Queensland with some of the most popular light classical and theatre music and with a sense of pomp and pageantry unsurpassed anywhere in Australia.  To bring this concert to life we have invited two wonderful stars to take us on that amazing journey in time.  Mirusia, described by Andre Rieu as the "Angel of Australia" will join a man who could arguably be referred to as the "Pin-up  Boy of the Pops", Gregory Moore.  Both these artists had their early foundation with this orchestra and have gone on to become international stars.  Mirusia will leave her European tour to join us for this concert.

The Friend of the Pops have voted for their favourite pieces of music.  To see the program click here.

Silvie Paladino's international career has seen her on the great stages of the world and she has become the iconic soloist for the Melbourne Myer Music Bowl Carol by Candlelight.   Her performance as Eponine in Les Misérables saw her nominated for Best Supporting Actress in the 1991 Victorian Green Room Awards.  She has also play roles in Hair, Cats and Miss Saigon.

Kane Alexander's debut in New York was acclaimed as "Best New Voice".  New albums and national tours have set Kane on a new journey in his professional career and we are delighted to have him on stage with Silvie and the Pops Orchestra.
