Cherin Lee

Cherin LeeCherin began playing the violin at four years of age and is currently studying with Igor Orlovskiy. She has been a first prize winner in various competitions including the

Australian Strings Association’s Concerto Competition. In the 2011 Redlands Eisteddfod, she was awarded both the Junior String Championship and the Most Promising String Player. Cherin also received the Encouragement Award in the Southeast Queensland Aria and Concerto Competition (25 years and under) in 2012. At the age of 10, Cherin was awarded h er Associate Diploma in Music, with Distinction. Her Licentiate in Music, with Distinction, followed at 11 years of age, with an invitation to perform at the Australian   Music Examination Board’s Annual Diploma Concert in 2012.

Cherin has been a student at Somerville House for two years. This year, she competed in and won the English Family Prize for Young Instrumentalists. Part of her prize included the opportunity to perform the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra. Later in the year, Cherin led the Somerville House Europe Tour   Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Ms Loreta Fin. She performed as soloist with the orchestra in various cities in Europe, receiving standing ovations at every concert. Cherin has just completed Year 9 at Somerville House, and was awarded Dux of her year level for the second year in succession.
